Costner, the Hero
Events, a big report, and some other things that have been happening
What's going on at Konfab HQ, posts flying in all over the place!
Kind of like buses [not hydrogen ones, they are all broken down and getting written off 🥴] - no posts for ages, then a bunch in a week!
Part of that flurry of activity has been building up the Sura Insights collection before they move over to a paid subscription.
Recap on those here - expect another 2 or 3 next week!

Let's talk about Costner
What's Kevin and his Field of Dreams got to do with climate tech, the energy transition, and life anyway!?
OK, yes I know the quote isn't exactly correct, its 'he will come' but in reality, 'they' is much better, and useful for building the future:

OK, now thats cleared up, what are we talking about again?
referring to the idea that if you put in the work and do something you're passionate about, it will find an audience
I often roll out Costner as a hero of the transition and the meme at the top of this post at my events and talks.
Apply it to whatever you like - renewables, innovation, launching a newsletter, hosting an event....well ok, you still need product-market fit and all that good stuff, but you get the idea!
What did I build then?
Sometimes you just need to build it...
We held Climate Tech Impact_South Event 04 a couple of weeks back. People came, including our usual Southampton City Cabinet members.
Along with the growing ecosystem, new a existing audience members, the National Oceanography Centre sent 3 speakers! 👏
Some cool innovation & IP lawyers, D Young & Co LLP sponsored us. ✅
Our AI event intelligence partners, Lorefully, captured all that good dialogue in the talks and breakouts. This is the report output - dive on in and have a read.
It's a long one, so grab a cuppa. ☕️
Would be great to get some feedback - what impression and insights does it give you to an in-person event that you didn't attend?
And then?
I teamed up with God's House Tower, which hosted Event 04 for us, to host a People's Emergency Briefing.

You have probably seen the National Emergency Briefing, a 1,200 invitational to Westminster, trying to instigate change and drive government policy on climate, nature, flooding, energy, food and water.
Stick a pin in the map, host one yourself with your local community:

Luckily, a lecturer in climate science from the University of Southampton has volunteered to come along and support my hosting efforts. 😄
What's next though?
That event I mentioned in London, Reset Connect, is coming up fast, 6 weeks to go.
Built the team of panelists, got Lorefully onboard, just need an audience now. 🤔

I have a VIP invite code, 100% free entry and access to this - if you can get to London and fancy coming and getting involved, let me know!
There was also this: if you can help a guy out...

Down the line?
Who knows what's next in events? I am working on something with a client for an autumn event; stayed tuned for more on that as it develops. 🤐
Want to talk about some support with an event to drive engagement and traction for your business, industry, or ecosystem - hit me up!
Why am I telling you all this, anyway?
People and connections matter. In-person events matter. That's how things get done: bridges get built, silos get broken down, and long-term relationships with a deeper connection are made.
And guess what, AI is not taking over in-person events anytime soon. 😅

Whatever it is, just build it - make something positive happen. 🙌
That's it from me!
Let's keep pushing forward - remember, the momentum is unstoppable despite everything you might see and hear! 🌍
